and Joyce Sheppard, who was active in the strike.

Cllr Timbers said, "The film was a moving account of one of the most important and tragic periods of recent history. For those of us who were involved in the strike, as strikers, families or supporters, its defeat was a vast disappointment. But it also broke down barriers between traditional pit communities and gay and lesbian communities and was an expression of the energy and hope generated when people come together."

There were many questions after the film. Cllr Timbers commented, "There were loads of questions and I'd like to thank the staff who cheerfully kept the cinema open to the public till 11pm so as many people as possible could have their say"
