Picture Perfect Pumpkins: A Film-Inspired Trail for 2024!

The Hebden Bridge Pumpkin Trail returns with an exciting new theme: Pumpkins at the Pictures! Over the 19th – 20th October, the eagerly anticipated Pumpkin Trail will be back with a brand-new theme, and it is going to be bigger than ever!

Hebden Royd Town Council have commissioned local creative collective Sand In Your Eye to conjure themed pumpkin displays to represent iconic characters from world-class cinema. But we can't spill the beans just yet! The Council are keeping which exact films and characters you can expect to see under wraps until the big weekend arrives. But what is guaranteed, is that the trail promises to be an unforgettable experience with well-loved movie characters taking centre stage.

This free family-friendly event boasts lots of opportunities to get involved. Fancy a go at showcasing your creativity and carving your own pumpkin to bring your favourite movie to life? Or how about coming along dressed up as your favourite film character? Come and join the fun!

Supported by volunteers from Hebden Bridge Rotary Club and the Friends of the Picture House, this year's Pumpkin Trail promises to have something for everyone. Visitors will be warmly welcomed to explore the trail, enjoy pumpkin-tastic activities and experience Sand In Your Eye's fabulous live pumpkin carve. Not only that, but also learn the odd fun fact or two along the way.

We're incredibly excited to unveil the 'Pumpkins at the Pictures' theme for this year's Pumpkin Trail. It's a perfect match! I think it's fair to say that the Picture House holds a very special place in the heart of our community, and we're proud to be one of the few Town Councils that owns and operates an independent cinema.

Movies hold the power to transport us to magical worlds and inspire our imagination. We're delighted to commission Sand In Your Eye to continue the tradition of creatively giving back to our community through this popular annual event.' - Emma Green, Acting Town Clerk.

For the first time this year, the Town Council are providing the opportunity for local businesses to sponsor a trail scene, with local bespoke kitchen and furniture makers Wood & Wire being one of the first businesses to jump on board. The cinema itself will be taking part in the seasonal action by screening Nosferatu (with live re-score by Sprechen Music) at 8pm on the Saturday night, see: www.hbph.co.uk to book.

Over the trail weekend there will be opportunities to learn about the history of the cinema, in addition to a recent community consultation concerning the introduction of a second screen to the cinema to ensure this not-for-profit community facility has a prosperous future.
