On Sunday 12th November 2023, the Hebden Royd community, veterans and friends from further afield came together to pay their respects and remember the service and sacrifice of those who have defended our freedoms.
Joined by Deputy Mayor Cllr. Pat Fraser alongside other Hebden Royd Councillors, two events took place. The first was a Service of Remembrance at 9:30am at St James' Church, Mytholm followed by an Act of Remembrance at Hebden Bridge Memorial Gardens at 10:30am. The Second was a gathering that commenced at the Mytholmroyd Community Centre at 1:45pm, from where the Remembrance Parade then took its contemplative journey towards the Memorial Gardens, where an Act of Remembrance followed.
Organised by the Hebden Royd Town Council in collaboration with the Hebden Royd community, both events provided an opportunity for individuals to partake in collective reflection and remembrance with a two-minute silence. Wreaths were laid, and the Last Post played with thanks to Hebden Bridge Brass Band. At Mytholmroyd, which has traditionally held a slightly larger event than Hebden Bridge over the years, the event continued with a service and refreshments at St Michael's Church afterwards, providing an opportunity for the community to come together, share stories, and support one another.
