On Sunday 17th September, the Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr. Bernice Hayes and Consort Mr. Eddie Hayes welcomed people from the Hebden Royd Community in addition to Mayors and other guests of honour from neighbouring towns to celebrate the Mayor's Civic Service.
The Service included a ceremony at St. Micheal's Church, Mytholmroyd, which offered an opportunity for community networking, celebration and reflection. In addition to the Mayor's address and a reading by Cllr. Jane Hoyle, guests enjoyed performances from St. Micheal's Amateur Juniors in Concert group and up and coming singer Nelson Gomez.
The Mayor expressed her thanks to those who joined the celebrations: "We had a wonderful afternoon and met lots of amazing people. I was especially moved to hear Nelson sing Amazing Grace for the Service, but the whole event had a wonderful community feel, many thanks to all those who attended."
Following the Service the congregation were invited to the Church Hall to share an afternoon tea. The annual event is reflective of the community spirit of Hebden Royd and its collective commitment to foster a stronger, more connected community.
