A place where people of all ages are able to live healthy and active later lives.

The UK's population is undergoing a massive age shift. There are over 11 million people aged 65 and in ten years' time this will have increased to 13 million people, 22% of the population.

An Age-friendly Community is a place where people of all ages are able to live healthy and active later lives. These places make it possible for people to continue to stay living in their homes, participate in the activities that they value, and contribute to their communities, for as long as possible.

Hebden Royd Town Council has developed an Action Plan whith a focus on several key areas including Social Participation, Respect and Inclusion, Transport, Housing, outdoor spaces and buildings, civic participation and health. This will be used to help us become an age-friendly community.

We encourage you to take part in our questionaire and to talk to us at these events about how we can create an age-friendly community. Tell us about what matters to you and how you feel your experience in your community could be improved.
