Hebden Royd Town Council Passes Motion
in Support of Ukraine

At the Full Council Meeting on 16 March Hebden Royd Town Council passed a motion to condemn the Russian actions in invading Ukraine and to pledge their support to refugees of the conflict.

The motion read:

"Hebden Royd Town Council stands with Ukraine and its people in these tragic times. It is horrified at the violations of International Law and of the Human Rights of the people of Ukraine. The Council supports those calling for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations, to ensure that the rights and security of all the peoples of the region are upheld and respected. The Council, also, calls on the British Government to reverse its attitude and deliberate policy of hostility towards asylum seekers and refugees - ensuring all applications for refuge and asylum in Britain are handled swiftly and with generosity and humanity."
