Schools in Hebden Royd receive
Kenneth Kaberry and Fred Barker Awards

The Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr Val Stevens, has recorded a video to the pupils of seven Hebden Royd primary schools to present them with the Kenneth Kaberry award.

The annual award, presented by the Town Mayor on behalf of the Town Council is in memory of the town's former clerk Kenneth Kaberry, who held the post from 1936 to 1986, and was an avid reader.

The Mayor would usually present a cheque of £150, including bookplates that should be used in the books they purchase with the award, in person at their school assembly. This year, due to the current restrictions in place, the Mayor has sent a video to the pupils of Scout Road Academy, Burnley Road Academy, Calder Primary School, Hebden Royd School, Central Street School, Riverside School and Stubbings School. The bookplates and cheque have been posted to the schools in advance.

Calder High School have also received by post The Fred Baker award, former Chair of Hebden Royd Town Council, which includes a £300 cheque and bookplates.
