A remote meeting was held on Friday 31st July 2020 to celebrate 25 years of twinning between Warstein and Hebden Royd.
The 40-minute meeting was held on the date of the postponed visit to Hebden Royd by members of the Warsteiner Europe Friends (WEF) and the wider Warstein Community as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Guests were welcomed to the meeting by Hebden Royd Mayor Cllr Val Stevens. Her counterpart Stadt Warstein Bürgermeister Dr Thomas Schöne warmly received the welcome and hoped that the Mayor will be able to visit Warstein during her tenure as Mayor of Hebden Royd.
A discussion was had which included memories from previous visits, plus a reminder of the importance of engaging the young in twinning and developing friendships between the towns.
Respective twinning group Presidents, Hebden Bridge Twinning Society David Parry and Warsteiner Europe Friends Helmut Schulte, assured those present that twinning exchanges would be arranged as soon as it is safe to do so.
