On hearing news of severe floods in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, Hebden Royd Town Council has sent a letter of support. Over the weekend of 17th to 19th April flooding caused dozens of fatalities in the community of Uvira and made a very large number of families homeless.
Councillors of course were aware of the difficulties flooding brings, but recognised that in the middle of a pandemic relief efforts were being made even more challenging. Local members of the national charity Quaker Congo Partnership UK are keen to raise awareness of this tragedy and stress that a small amount of money goes a long way.
More information about the charity and ways of donating to help in this crisis is available on the charity website and the Quaker Congo Partnership Facebook page.
