Picture House vacancies

The Picture House has vacancies. Here are the details, first for two Ushers and, below, for a Duty Manager.

Two Ushers (6 Hours Per Week)

Post Grade: Grade 1b (SCP 6 - 8) £16,394 – 16,626 pro rata      
(equivalent to £8.50 - £8.62 per hour, and with Living Wage Supplement enhanced to £8.75 per hour)

Hebden Royd Town Council is seeking to recruit two committed, motivated people to join our Front of House Team at the Hebden Bridge Picture House, to each work six hours each weekend plus occasional overtime hours (covering other staff members' hours on a casual basis for holiday and sickness absence and working a share of additional shifts e.g. matinees during school holidays). 

Responsible for serving the public at film screenings and live events at the Picture House, under the supervision of the Duty Manager, the Usher role's duties include:

  • ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons of the cinema.
  • selling food and drink via the kiosk and bar, including serving alcohol, cashing up and stock replenishment and counting.
  • working as part of the front of house team to ensure that all the Front of House standards for the Hebden Bridge Picture House are fulfilled.
  • liasing with our customers both face to face and over the telephone.
  • playing a part in ensuring Licensing Legislation, Health & Safety Legislation and Security procedures are adhered to.

Role A: 6 hours per week covering (A) Saturday evening (1.00pm – 4.00pm) AND (B) EITHER Sunday matinee (1.00pm – 4.00pm) OR Sunday evening (7.15pm – 10.15pm)

Shift times are approximate and vary by film length and programmed start times.  We would be willing for the two post holders to work on a two week agreed rota should shift variance be preferred by the successful candidates. Candidates should state which of the 4 shifts they would be willing to work when applying and whether they would prefer Role A or Role B or have no preference.  As alcohol sales are involved you must be over 18 years of age.

One Duty Manager (3.5 hours per week)

Post Grade: Scale 3 (SCP 17) £18,672 pro rata, Equivalent to 9.68 per hour.

Hebden Royd Town Council is seeking to recruit a proactive and experienced duty (shift) manager for the Hebden Bridge Picture House, to work on a 3.5 hour per week basis (working on a Sunday evening each week) plus occasional overtime hours (covering other staff members' hours on a casual basis for holiday and sickness absence and working a share of additional shifts e.g. matinees during school holidays).

Responsible for managing screenings and live events at the Picture House in the absence of the Picture House Manager, particular responsibilities will include:

  • managing projection and ushering staff.
  • running the Picture House Box Office, supervising the kiosk and bar sales, accounting and end of shift reporting procedures.
  • dealing with members of the public face to face, over the telephone and by email.
  • ensuring Licensing Legislation, Health & Safety Legislation and Security procedures are adhered to.

The Picture House is a seven day a week operation and evening and weekend work is standard.
