The chill in the air, the distant ringing of Sleigh Bells can mean only one thing… Father Christmas is on its way!
He will be joining the Mayor of Hebden Royd Cllr Anthony Hodgins and a host of special guests for two nights of festive fun as the Christmas Tree Lights are switched on in Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.
On Friday 25th November at 5pm there will be a traditional Christmas Lights Switch On in St George's Square, Hebden Bridge. Hebden Radio will be presenting entertainment from Hebden Bridge Junior & Senior Band, Magpie Movers and local choirs, building up to dazzling fireworks finale. The community is then invited to share in mulled wine and mince pies at the Town Hall.
And that's not all!
On Saturday 26th November from 12 noon Hebden Royd Town Council are working in partnership with Royd Regeneration to present a Magical Mytholmroyd Christmas, partially funded by the Big Lottery. Hosted by Hebden Radio, the event will offer something for the whole village to enjoy! Shop till you drop at the 40 stall festive market, the perfect place for those Christmas gifts, then relax with a free glass of mulled wine, courtesy of the Co-op whilst the live entertainment from Mr Wilsons Second Liners and Hebden Bridge Brass Band really get the Christmas spirit flowing.
Children of all ages will be amazed by the live ice carving, created by Sand in Your Eye, which will become the perfect place to post your letters to the North Pole. A couple of Reindeer will be flying in with Father Christmas, to help him check who has been naughty or nice, and with free face painting, crafts and more the day promises to be overflowing with Christmas cheer.
The big switch on takes place at 4:30pm and the brand new Christmas features for Mytholmroyd will be shining bright, as the day draws to a close a spectacular fireworks finale will make sure that this Christmas starts with a bang!
