After four busy years at the Town Council May 7th sees Full Town and Parish Council elections as well as the national elections for parliament. Town and Parish Council see themselves as the tier of democracy closest to the people, easily accessible and understanding of local views and issues. To help local people decide if they wish to become a Town Councillor a simple guide outlining all elements of the role of a Town Councillor has been compiled by Hebden Royd Town Council along with this a introductory guide to the Powers and Duties of the Town Council. These are attached.
Perhaps the easiest way to see how a Town Council works is to attend a meeting of the council. Full Council Meetings are scheduled for the 11th March and 1st April, at 7.30pm in Hebden Bridge Town Hall and are open to all, they will give those interested a taste of the business the Town Council is involved with. If you are unable to attend but still interested with questions waiting to be answered the Town Clerk, Jason Boom, can be contacted on 01422 842181 or at Hebden Bridge Town Hall and he would be happy to help with any enquiries.
