Hebden Royd Town Council announces 2026/27 budget

Hebden Royd Town Council (HRTC) has approved a small increase in its precept for the 2026/27 financial year.

The precept is the portion of Hebden Royd residents’ council tax that goes directly to HRTC to fund local services and projects.

HRTC represents Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge, and Mytholmroyd, dedicated to improving the economic, social, and environmental well-being of all its residents and workers.

For financial year 2026/27, starting in April, a Band D household will contribute £2.96 per week, an increase of £7.35 per year since 2025/26. With 87% of properties in Hebden Royd in Band D or below, the majority will pay this, or less. The cost for a Band A household (45% of Hebden Royd properties) is £1.97 per week.

The Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr. Keith Butterick, said; “The decision to increase the budget has not been taken lightly, and aims to balance increased costs of delivering the Council’s services and events, alongside the increasing financial pressures facing our community as whole.

HRTC will continue to deliver popular events Hebden’s Happy Hounds and Christmas events, as well as projects including free online community events calendar What’s On Hebden Bridge, High Hirst Woodmeadow and HRTC owned and operated Hebden Bridge Picture House, as it enters an exciting phase in its history.

The Council is proud to retain a significant proportion of the precept to support grassroots community organisations delivering impactful work in the community through our Community Funding programme. Groups awarded funding over the past year include Out In The Valley, Calder Food Support and Northern Powerhouse Academy.”

Over the coming year, Hebden Royd Town Councillors will continue to work hard for the community of Hebden Royd across all our services, projects and events. We are committed to maintaining dialogue with Hebden Royd Business Forum, connecting with environmental groups through the new HRTC Green Network, and, as the Hebden Bridge Flood Alleviation Scheme works begin, developing a dialogue with the Environment Agency to explore how HRTC can best support the community through what will be a challenging time.
