Rachel McNicholas

As a passionate advocate for our community, I am honoured to serve as a Town Councillor for the Fairfield Ward.

I am originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, but I have lived in Hebden Bridge for 4 years. With a background in HR and Employment Law, I have also worked in a range of voluntary roles in the past (Special Constable for Northumbria Police, Wellbeing Lead for Northern Pride and Radio Presenter for Pride World Radio) and so I bring a unique perspective and a proactive approach to addressing the needs and aspirations of our residents

I am passionate about creating positive change and improving the quality of life of residents and driving progress in areas such as the environment and infrastructure. In my professional life, I work as Head of People and Culture for a children and young people’s charity. While the day-to-day tasks differ between HR and a Town Councillor, I believe the skills I have are extremely beneficial in navigating community engagement, policy making, and stakeholder management.

My vision for our town is one where every resident feels valued, heard, and empowered. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration, we can build a resilient community that stands strong in the face of challenges and thrives on opportunities. Together, we can create a town that not only meets the needs of today but also paves the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.

As your Town Councillor, I am committed to working tirelessly on your behalf. I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me and remain dedicated to serving our community with integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
