My name is Bernice Hayes I moved to Hebden Royd 4 years ago with my husband Eddie and our two dogs, Henry and Dyson. I am a retired Counsellor, I worked in the NHS in Wigan as well as private practice.
Since living in this wonderful valley I have been involved in various local issues. I have been a trustee at Luddendenfoot Community Association, delivering late date food and keeping Brearley park tidy.
My biggest venture is being active in setting up Calder Food Support with Councillor Sue Fenton. This offers food parcels and community meals within our area. We are still evolving to meet the needs of our area while working with the most amazing group of local volunteers. I feel that we offer a hand up not a hand out.
I was very proud when Mayor Jane Hoyle asked me to be her deputy, I agreed and it has been a fantastic experience. So Thank you Jane.
