Mayors of Hebden Royd: Past and Present

The new Mayor, Councillor Steve Woodhead, with his two consorts, wife Jo Woodhead and granddaughter Winnie Woodhead.

Cllr Steve Woodhead (2026-2027)

The role of a Town Councillor is a privilege, working with fellow councillors, the staff team and partners to provide services and opportunities, with and for, the people of Hebden Royd. I look forward to being even more involved during this Mayoral year.

HRTC has forged some incredible partnerships over the years and my ambition for this Mayoral year is to continue working with many amazing people, building new and cementing old partnerships.

I’m delighted to be supporting Calder valley Search and Rescue Team as my chosen charity. They are a registered charity providing an essential, lifesaving emergency service to the people of Calder Valley and beyond, with a fantastic team of 50 volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

I thank the Hebden Royd Town Council staff team for the excellent work they do in the direct delivery of services and in supporting councillors in their work. I’d also like to thank my consorts and the newly elected Deputy Mayor. and I very much look forward to this coming year as Mayor.

The Mayoral Chain

The HRTC Mayoral chain features the iconic Packhorse Bridge at Bridge Gate. Built in 1510, the bridge connects the two sides of the valley and historically formed a key passing point of the packhorse route.
