What a busy week of festive celebrations we’ve had in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge! With both Light Up the Valley events now wrapped up, we’re delighted to share a few reflections, as well as saying a huge thank you to everyone who helped make them happen.
Mytholmroyd, 23rd November
Despite the drizzle on Sunday, plenty of people turned out to enjoy the music, performances, stalls, Santa’s Grotto and family activities in Mytholmroyd. Our thanks go to event partners Light Up the Valley, event support from The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd Community Centre, and to all the performers, volunteers and stallholders who helped make the afternoon run smoothly.
Hebden Bridge, 27th November
The celebrations continued later in the week in Hebden Bridge, where St George’s Square and the Town Hall were buzzing with music, live entertainment, children’s crafts, and plenty of Christmas magic. Santa’s Grotto was as popular as ever, and visitors filled the square to countdown to the Christmas tree lights switch-on.
Season’s Greetings from the Mayor of Hebden Royd
We are especially grateful to the Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr. Keith Butterick, for officially opening both events and helping mark the start the festive season in our community.
Our thanks also go to the installation teams at Calderdale Council for putting up the community Christmas trees and festive lighting displays in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge which since 2024 have been fully funded by Hebden Royd Town Council.
Neither event would have been possible without the teamwork, support and enthusiasm of our local community groups, schools, performers, businesses and volunteers – and of course the Hebden Royd community who turned out to celebrate together.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge. With the lights now switched on and sparkling, we’re officially ready for Christmas! 🎄✨
