Richard Needham

It was a great privilege to be elected to represent Fairfield Ward earlier this month (May 2018). Born and brought up in Yorkshire what matters to me is the attachment and commitment to the community where I have made my home. And since living in Hebden I have become involved in local activities and become fully part of this community. I have also become a trustee of the board of Hebden Bridge Community Association that so successfully owns and operates the Town Hall – I am passionate about the difference that all such voluntary groups can make to the town.

In the past as a Councillor in Nottinghamshire I have worked with businesses on a Town Centre Group – in Hebden likewise I will strive to support the efforts to bring improvements, more activities and life to our town.

Currently, I manage a small children’s charity in Lancashire. In the past I have worked as a Social Worker and in Children’s Centres and am committed to supporting and giving voice to the most vulnerable. I hope that I prove to be an effective councillor, listening to people, ensuring that they are effectively represented and making a difference to the communities of Hebden Royd.
