Expressions of Interest – Room/Building Hire

Hebden Royd Town Council is assessing whether there is a demand for additional community space in Mytholmroyd, as it has been offered the use of the building previously occupied by the Calder Valley Club, on Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd.
The building consists of a ground floor reception/office, a large room with linoleum floor and full kitchen off, and an upper floor with kitchenette, carpeted lounge area, and smaller side rooms.

There are accessible toilets with tracking hoists on both floors, and a lift between the floors.  The ground floor room could be suitable for a variety of activities, or a café.  The upper floor has low beams, so would not be suitable for aerobics or similar, but could accommodate a range of other activities.

Having previously been run as a club for people with a physical disability, the building has a number of accessible features often lacking in older or smaller facilities.  The Town Council recognises that, with the closure of the Methodist Church, there has been a reduction in the availability of community space in Mytholmroyd, and it is keen to ensure that if the necessary demand exists the Calder Valley Club site is retained for the benefit of the community.

Equally, the Town Council is also keen to reassure people that it would only seek to add to existing provision if demand is sufficient.  There is no intention to compete with existing community facilities in Mytholmroyd, and the Town Council has written to them to seek their input in establishing whether there is a business case for additional facilities.

The Town Council would like to hear from anyone who might be interested in:

  • regular rentals for community activities, meetings or classes;
  • occasional rentals for events;
  • renting part of the building for running a business or social firm.

If you might be interested in using the building, or for further information, please contact Hannah Dobson at Hannah@hebdenroyd.org.uk or 01422 842 181

Please respond by 1st April 2015.
